Personalized Treatment Options to Meet Your Unique Needs

What is In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and IVF with Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)?

In the field of assisted reproductive technology, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is the preferred technique for women over the age of 38, individuals experiencing semen quality issues, or those with unexplained and prolonged infertility.

The IVF procedure involves stimulating the ovaries through a tailored hormonal treatment to maximize egg production, which are then retrieved in a surgical procedure called follicular puncture. Subsequently, our team of skilled biologists performs the insemination of the retrieved eggs within our laboratory facilities.

During your initial consultation, your doctor will evaluate your unique case and determine the most appropriate treatment protocol for you. The objective of the hormonal medication regimen is to stimulate your ovaries to produce an optimal number of follicles. Over the course of approximately 10-12 days, you will self-administer the medication as instructed by our nursing team. Throughout this period, we will conduct regular medical examinations, including vaginal ultrasounds and hormone analysis when necessary. Once the criteria for optimal follicular development are met, we will schedule your follicular puncture procedure, which will take place in our fully equipped operating room. This procedure is quick and performed under mild sedation, allowing you to resume your normal activities within a few hours.

While you undergo the follicular puncture, our biologists will carefully analyze and prepare the retrieved mature eggs for fertilization within our laboratory. The fertilized eggs will then be placed in the cutting-edge time-lapse incubator, equipped with a small camera that enables us to monitor the embryo's development without compromising the ideal conditions for growth.

After several days, typically when the embryos have reached the blastocyst stage and demonstrated satisfactory development, we meticulously select the embryos based on their morphology for the subsequent embryo transfer procedure. In cases where multiple embryos are available, we may choose to vitrify and preserve them for future attempts.

Following the embryo transfer, you will be able to resume your normal routine within a few hours. After a few days, our coordination team will schedule a blood test to measure the level of the Beta-HCG hormone, which serves as a reliable indicator of pregnancy.

What is In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) with Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)?

In certain cases, In Vitro Fertilization can incorporate the technique of preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), known as IVF-PGD. This procedure is similar to conventional IVF, but with the added step of analyzing the embryos chromosomally. Specifically, during the blastocyst stage, embryos that meet the required conditions can undergo biopsy and remain vitrified until the biopsy results are obtained. Only embryos determined to be chromosomally normal will be selected for transfer into the mother's uterus.

IVF with PGD is typically recommended for the following reasons:

  1. Advanced maternal age (over 38 years)
  2. Certain abnormalities in sperm quality
  3. History of recurrent miscarriages
  4. Repeated failures of in vitro fertilization
  5. Diagnosis of a hereditary genetic disease in the prospective newborn

In the IVF process, eggs can be retrieved from the patient herself or obtained from a donor, and they can be fertilized using the partner's sperm or donor sperm. If you would like more information about IVF with egg donation, please click on the provided link.

What is In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) in a natural cycle?

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a highly effective technique that yields promising outcomes, particularly when a significant number of mature eggs can be retrieved. In general, a greater number of eggs retrieved translates to a higher likelihood of fertilized embryos and increased chances of success.

However, in certain specific cases, such as young women (<35 years) with ovarian dysfunction, the conventional approach of hormonal stimulation does not offer substantial benefits. Even with high doses of hormones, the ovary may not produce an optimal quantity of eggs. In such situations, natural cycle IVF presents a viable alternative.

IVF in a natural cycle is a delicate procedure that necessitates personalized and close monitoring. It involves closely tracking the development of the follicle that the woman naturally selects, and its significance cannot be overstated.

At NatuVitro, we boast extensive expertise in closely monitoring natural cycles. With our personalized approach and the presence of our in-house laboratory, we ensure accurate and meticulous monitoring of these patients.
