Shared Motherhood for Same Sex Couple
The ROPA Method (Reception of Oocytes from Partner), is specifically designed for couples of women who both desire to actively participate in the fertility process.
Typically, one partner (often the younger one, with better oocyte quality) undergoes ovarian stimulation, following the same procedure as in vitro fertilization (IVF). This involves administering hormonal treatment to stimulate the ovaries and retrieve mature eggs. If you wish to learn more about In Vitro Fertilization, please click on the provided link.
Once the mature eggs have been collected from the partner who underwent ovarian stimulation and puncture, they are then inseminated with donor sperm. The selection of the sperm donor is a meticulous process that takes into account the physical characteristics desired by the couple as well as genetic compatibility, ensuring the avoidance of any future complications arising from recessive diseases in the offspring.
Subsequently, when the embryos are deemed ready for transfer to the recipient's uterus, endometrial preparation is conducted for the other partner in the couple. This preparation can be achieved through a substituted cycle involving hormonal treatment or through a natural cycle that follows the woman's physiological menstrual cycle without the administration of estrogenic medication.
At NatuVitro, we advocate for the transfer to occur within the natural cycle. Should you desire additional information about endometrial preparation in a natural cycle, please click on the provided link.
